I don’t really agree to be honest. Yes, he tried to rape Jenny is season 1, he sold Blair to Jack (I know Jack attempted to rape Lily so I guess the rapist allegation applies), and yes he has emotionally abused Blair. But what about character development? Chuck Bass has come along way from season 1 and had some falls along the way but so has everyone else. He’s matured between season 1 and season 3. Maybe the reason I get so hyped up about it is because no one actually takes the chance to look at character development or the character’s stories. He’s has a screwed up life. Chuck Bass’s father never really cared about him, he’s seen his father with countless women, and have we looked at who his uncle is? In no way am I saying this gets Chuck Bass a get out of a jail free card. He has made some TERRIBLE mistakes but I don’t think he’s worse than anyone else, take Blair for instance. She would have done what Chuck wanted her if he HAD ASKED HER TO DO IT which to me is just as wrong as Chuck wanting her to do it in the first place. She’s used and abused people too and she has hurt Chuck. But I want to know who the second girl he assaulted is and I’m not saying that in a mean way I just don’t know.I know Jenny but in season 3 Jenny was very much willing and I wouldn’t call that sexual assault. Chuck isn’t a bad boy with a heart of gold, he’s a lost boy.

Sorry, but what? I agree that I’d rather have Blair not willing to get whored out for her boyfriend, but the only one she hurt with that is herself and not Chuck. Chuck, on the other hand, basically sent her away to get raped. Worse, he gave her the feeling it was her choice and blamed her for it, when he was clearly the one setting everything up and emotionally manipulating her into going up there. The only thing Blair is “guilty of” when it comes to the IP, is loving her shitty boyfriend so much and having so little respect for herself that she actually agreed to it, but she did not wrong Chuck in any way or is to blame for their relationship falling apart over it, that was all Chuck’s doing.

The other girl Chuck attempted to rape was Serena.

I don’t care how “lost” Chuck is, at some point a ~sad, lonely~ childhood doesn’t excuse things anymore, especially not if your screw over those people that are trying to help you. In my book, he can go die in a fire/start a sad, sad online blog about his sad, sad life and be FOREVER ALONE.

I agree with the above poster. I do like Chuck, but AS A VILLAIN. I appreciate his background but I don’t want this and his ~character development~ which consistently regresses again and again to make me like him as a PERSON. He started to develop post season 1 and for a while it was uphill, but is everyone forgetting that he whored out Blair JUST last season? That’s not that long ago. 

I don’t like how the show insists that he is really a good guy, because I don’t believe he is. Face it, if he weren’t a GQMF and have his catch phrase, everybody would hate him. 

I don’t get why he is so worshipped and then Jenny or Vanessa are despised and called whores or bitches for doing stuff that is nowhere near as bad as him. Yeah, their characters are morally questionable but Chuck is just plain awful to me.

PLUS HE TAKES HIMSELF WAY TOO SERIOUSLY. 

Guys, this took fucking ages. And I’m probably insane. But I think it offers a fascinating insight into my brain and the kinds of things I see when I watch television. Specifically Gossip Girl, because apparently I have some weird filter on that makes me see it a LOT differently from other fans. Ngl, I think my version is better than the show and I’m perfectly happy watching this rainbow fantasy land as opposed to whatever the hell Gossip Girl actually is. So I hope you… enjoy?
